A mother was handcuffed in the parking lot of a metro Detroit Sam’s Club after her toddler was found alone inside a car. A shopper at the Southgate Sam’s Club, along Northline Road near I-75, noticed the child in the back seat of a car in the parking lot around 6 p.m. and called 911. Police arrived along with a tow truck and were able to enter the car while an officer located the mother inside the store.

Authorities are working to identify the body of a man found by hunters in a large plastic bag in mid-Michigan. The Gratiot County sheriff’s office says an autopsy revealed the man found Sunday in a ditch in Seville Township was about 60 to 70 years old. Cause of death wasn’t released. Investigators are seeking help from the public in identifying the man, who had distinctive tattoos.

Authorities say an armed robbery suspect has died after being shot by police in southern Michigan. Michigan State Police say five officers from Jackson-area departments fired at 47-year-old Kenneth Townley on Sunday afternoon in Jackson County’s Blackman Township and he died at a hospital.
