Detroit police say two people were found dead inside the Detroit Public Lighting Authority building on Friday morning. The building is located near the intersection of Gratiot and Harper on the city's east side. Police got the call just before 7 a.m. from DTE Energy.
A 31-year-old woman was shot in the back as she ran from an attempted robbery early Thursday morning on Detroit's west side, police said. The shooting took place about 12:22 a.m. on the 15000 block of Sussex, which is south of Fenkell and east of Greenfield.
Kalamazoo man pleads guilty in elderly neighbor's death
A 22-year-old Detroit man is facing a charge of first-degree murder in the homicide of a man who was found stabbed to death Wednesday in the hallway of an apartment building on Telegraph, on the city's west side. Court records identify the suspect as Marchello Washington, a resident of the building where the homicide took place. He was denied bond at his Dec. 22 arraignment.

A 22-year-old Westland man was charged Friday with killing his mother in a fatal stabbing earlier this week, authorities said. Justin Jay Paul was arraigned Friday morning in 18th District Court in Westland on charges of first-degree murder. Police said he stabbed his mother, Jeannette Lee Paul, 50, also of Westland, in the throat around 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 20.

A man has died after being pulled from icy water after on Friday night. Van Buren County dispatchers say crews were called just after 8 p.m. to 36th Avenue, a private road along School Section Lake in Bangor Township. We’re told when crews arrived on scene, they found an SUV submerged in water.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriffs’s Department was called to the intersection of E MN Avenue and S 44th Street around 7 a.m. after a report of a two car crash. Investigators are narrowing in on two suspects in a fatal shooting in Muskegon Heights Thursday night. That's according to Muskegon Heights Police Chief Joseph E. Thomas Jr., who said the shooting on Jefferson Street was not random. Police responded to the report of a shooting in the 3300 block of Jefferson Street near West Maplewood Avenue around 9:10 p.m. Dec. 21.

Justin Jay Paul, 22-years-old, of Westland, has been charged in connection with the killing of his mother Jeannette Lee Paul, 50-years-old, also of Westland. On December 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at their home located in the 6100 block of North Walton it is alleged that Justin Paul fatally stabbed his mother in the throat and fled the location. A family member called the police to the location. The police found the lifeless body of Mrs. Paul inside the home.
Police are investigating a possible homicide in Westland that had multiple schools under a shelter-in-place protocol. Officials said the incident happened at a house on Joy Road along the border of Livonia and Westland. Joy Road was closed in both directions between Danzig and Hillcrest streets. One person is in custody, and the shelter-in-place has been lifted, police said.

A Kalamazoo man is dead after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing a Kalamazoo Township street. The incident happened Tuesday in the 3000 block of West Main Street at Solon Street, just east of Nichols Road.
The body of a man who police said was stabbed to death was found early Wednesday in the hallway of an apartment building on Detroit's west side. The victim's identity is not immediately known, but police believe him to be about 40.
An arrest warrant is out for a 21-year-old Detroit man who is facing charges in the Dec. 13 homicide of Sammuel Newell, 20. The suspect, who is not being named because he hasn't been arrested or arraigned, faces charges of first-degree murder, felony murder, armed robbery, felony firearm, and possession of a firearm by a felon, court records show.
A 26-year-old man from Jackson has been charged with assault with intent to murder for a shooting at Bar 7 in Southfield.

Detroit: police are investigating a case of an infant girl who apparently died in her crib early Friday morning. The death does not appear at first glance to be suspicious, although no official determination has yet been made, Detroit Police Officer Dan Donakowski said. The mother of the 3-month-old baby told investigators she went to check on her at 2:30 a.m. Friday and found her unresponsive in their home in the 12000 block of Westwood, near Evergreen and Plymouth on Detroit’s west side, Donakowski said.
